Help Improve Portage Park Playground!
A safe and beautiful playground serves as a place for children to get exercise, make new friends and enjoy their community. For parents, caregivers and community people it is a reflection of a vibrant community. It is a place to meet diverse people, discuss parenting issues and community issues, and it serves as a common place to unite as a whole. The Portage Park Playground Committee is requesting  that the playground equipment and surrounding area be upgraded with new equipment, soft rubber surface, sprinklers, benches, tables, and landscaping.

Metropolitan Family Services - North Center

Metropolitan Family Services - North Center, located at 3249 North Central Avenue, serves Chicago's northwest side families and communities of Portage Park, Belmont-Cragin, Irving Park and Hermosa.

This new center provides much-needed services to communities where the population of youth under 18 is growing more rapidly than anywhere else in the city. The new North Center provides a gathering place where youth, their families and the community can work together for a future full of hope and opportunity.

Currently, North Center offers 10 programs, including general family and individual counseling services; domestic violence intervention; in-home counseling and support for teen mothers; parent involvement programs and after school enrichment programs in local schools; counseling and support for older adults and their caregivers; financial literacy; and community development. North Center provided services to 1,400 families last year. These services are provided in both Spanish and Polish when needed.

For more information call (773)371-3701 or e-mail Sandra Stumme stummes@metrofamily.org.
